Alumni Alliance was founded in response to a pattern that former foster youth know all too well: support often ends just as adulthood begins. While education programs provide structure during school years, many alumni are left without consistent connection once those programs conclude. Our history begins with listening — and with the decision to build something that lasts beyond graduation.
Why Alumni Alliance Began
Former foster youth often leave school without the safety net many others rely on. Without consistent relationships, mentorship, or a sense of belonging, the transition into careers and adulthood can feel overwhelming.
Alumni Alliance was formed to provide continuity. It was built on the belief that long-term connection, not one-time assistance, creates stability. The goal was never to replace independence, but to ensure no one has to navigate life alone once formal support ends.
A Message from Our Founders
At Alumni Alliance, we believe that every former foster youth deserves a strong network of support as they transition from college into their careers. Having served as foster parents and mentors, we’ve witnessed both the incredible resilience of these young adults and the challenges they face navigating life after graduation.
Our journey began when we learned of a recent graduate at risk of homelessness—a moment that made it clear how crucial it is to provide guidance, resources, and community for those stepping into adulthood.
Alumni Alliance was created to fill that gap. Our mission is to empower, connect, and celebrate former foster youth, ensuring that their achievements are recognized and that they have the tools to thrive in every stage of life. We are honored to walk alongside our members as they build their futures, and we invite you to join us in creating a community where success is shared and every voice is valued.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Alumni Alliance is to empower and support former foster youth who have earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees by providing a strong professional network, fostering meaningful community connections, and facilitating career opportunities that ensure continued success and fulfillment beyond academia.
Built From Lived Experience
The foundation of Alumni Alliance comes from listening to former foster youth themselves. Their experiences highlighted the need for a space that feels familiar, supportive, and rooted in shared understanding.
Members often describe the organization as a place where they can connect with people who understand their background without explanation. That shared experience creates trust, openness, and relationships that grow over time.
